Number Sense and Numeration
As we have moved along this term in our learning our interpretation of Learning Goals has progressed as well. I would now word the goals for this lesson as:
We are learning to list the factors of a number. We are learning to write numbers as products of Prime Factors. Note: Gizmo's are part of the Explore Learning website. |

COMPARING AND ORDERING FRACTIONS
Name: _____________________ Date: ___________________
COMPARING AND ORDERING FRACTIONS
Expectation: Represent, compare and order fractions using a variety of tools eg. number line
Goal: We are learning to represent, compare and order fractions using a number line
Activity: Students work in groups of 2-3. They will take turns rolling a die to create fractions until they have created 6 different ones. The number on the first roll will be the numerator and the second will be the denominator. They will use the Educreations App on the ipad to record the 6 fractions (screen 1), order them from greatest to least (screen 2), place the 6 fractions on a number line (screen 3), and then justify the placement of each fraction (screen 4). They will submit their findings to the drop box in the LMS.
Success Criteria:
We have divided the number line into the correct number of fractional parts.
*We have used common denominators to compare the fractions.
*We have ordered the fractions from greatest to least.
*We have explained our thinking using mathematical language.
Complete the activity entitled Comparing and Ordering Fractions and then submit your final assignment into this folder.
