Video evidence of our team's learning this year.
|
This video, connected to Ted's Journal entry #3, shows students in the process of a three part math lesson. It does not show the "minds on" portion of the lesson. For this we discussed what BEDMAS or PEMDAS is and then set them free on their problem. The students took pictures of their original problem and uploaded the pictures to the Educreations App on the i-pads. This allowed them to do the calculations, make changes and markup the page to explain their work.

This quiz allowed my class the time needed to complete the work necessary and work on other tasks or read in between questions. As usual, I had two students absent. However, those two students were able to use a link to the quiz to complete the assessment independently upon their return, just like the rest of the class.
Six groups of students completed this task. The ability to draw and erase in multiple colours to match the physical block structures helped the students to visualize and make corrections easily. The task pointed out the need for students to have access to a stylus when working with the iPads.

Workshop Slideshow
In the spring of 2014, our TLLP team presented a workshop to all 7 and 8 teachers in our board. The workshop was video-conferenced to the board's district teachers. As a follow-up to the workshop, the team offered one-to-one team teaching with any interested teachers. Two teachers in our district jumped on board and team members went to spend the day with them. Together, the larger team planned a lesson with the teacher and implanted the lesson in the classroom, giving both students and staff an opportunity to work with the technology and see how descriptive feedback coupled with it. As the class we were visiting was deeply engaged in their science unit, we adapted our learning to fit the situation as all good teachers tend to do.
